Forest School at Staple Hill Primary is rooted in the core Forest School principles, which promote regular, long-term learning experiences in a natural environment. Sessions support children to develop confidence, resilience, independence and a strong connection to the natural world through hands-on, child-led learning.
All children in EYFS and Key Stage 1 have access to Forest School as part of the curriculum. Sessions are carefully planned and led by our two highly skilled Forest School teachers, ensuring a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where children are supported to explore, take appropriate risks and develop practical skills.
Forest School provides opportunities for children to:
- Build self-esteem and confidence through achievable challenges
- Develop social skills such as cooperation, communication and problem-solving
- Strengthen physical skills through movement, tool use and outdoor play
- Deepen their understanding of nature, seasons and the environment
